Grantees in the News: Claire McEvoy and Kristine Yaffe research on dietary patterns and cognition as we age in Neurology and The New York Times
On March 6, 2019, Neurology published research co-authored by AFAR experts Claire T. McEvoy, PhD and Kristine Yaffe, MD on the CARDIA Study, which looked at the impact of dietary patterns during adulthood on cognitive performance in midlife.
The researchers compared the impact of the Mediterranean diet, which involves mainly plant-based foods and moderate alcohol intake; a research-based diet plan that rates food groups as favorable or not; and the DASH diet, which stresses low-sodium foods.
